The Last Week

For those of you unfamiliar with the term, June-gloom is our name for the marine layer of cloud that prevents the sun from shining on us here in Southern Cailifornia. Well, its here and I'm absolutely fine with it. I think it's a nice way to ease into the summer. A refresher course - a mini spring after some hot weeks in May.

It eases kids in to summer vacation. You can't just get out of school and expect it to be perfect! No, no no. You gotta spend a little time under a cloud first.

These are good life lessons of the 33rd latitude.

Last week was pretty darn fun. Chris Thile was in LA to do some work and play a solo show. I was glad to get caught up on his new songs and watch him do his thing. I love that he's still undeniably improving. He got Gabe, Sean, Jon Brion and I up at the end for some good old jams.

I was a bit nervous on the night of the family hour, but I realize more and more that that's just par for my course when it comes to new things. I kinda felt like we were all being on our best behavior in the new space, but by the end it was feeling much better. Fiona sang her little tush off, Chris sat in a bit, and Jon too!

At home, I've been setting up a little studio in the extra bedroom of my house. I know I'm years behind everyone else, but I'm still stoked on it. :)
